"Springtime in The Stars"
Overture to Egotastic Trek

Sheet Music available at:

"Springtime in the Stars" is the concert version of the music that I wrote for the Preamble and Main Title of my Star Trek fan series, Egotastic Trek published by Pranakasha Productions on YouTube.

If you listen closely to the Preamble of the piece, you’ll hear some classic Star Trek motifs, and you may even notice fragments of Puccini's famous aria O Mio Babbino Caro (a reference to a scene in Egotastic Trek in which two of the main characters reminisce and sing together). This is all interspersed by hints of the main theme to come.

The next section, the Allegro, is a re-scoring of a piece that I wrote and premiered with The Octava Chamber Orchestra in March 2020 called Overture to La Primavera (which celebrates the beautiful poem of the same name by Pablo Neruda). Because the Allegro is upbeat and heroic, I thought it would fit really well as a Sci-Fi/Action movie type of theme. To achieve that iconic Hollywood sound, I added harp, xylophone, glockenspiel, percussion, trombones, tuba, and piccolo, striving to follow in the footsteps of my heroes John Williams, Fred Steiner, Alexander Courage, and Sol Kaplan.

Many thanks to Bobby Collins and The Seattle Festival Orchestra for including Springtime in the Stars on today's program!!!
